I got asked a lot about how a person, a graduate, non-graduate, or other fields than pharmaceutical, apply for a sales rep job in a pharma company? I answer this question once on Yahoo Answer, but I believe it is not there anymore due to community rule violation or something like that.
So I'm answering it with this post.

You just go ahead and apply! There's no right or wrong in doing so.
Worst case scenario, you'll learn how to better apply for it next time.
When I graduated in 1998, the economic condition was so bad, and I just want to make money.
Influenced by the books I read, I badly want to get into sales.
I applied for jobs in the pharmaceutical industry by searching in the classified section in newspapers, I search online, and I just knock on doors.
I just graduated so obviously I had no experience!
I finally landed a job with a Multinational Pharmaceutical (MNC) company as a product specialist (that's a sales rep in simple term).
No experience but I got the job...
So what makes you think you can't do the same?
Maybe it's going to be a bit tricky with lots of experience talents lying around after all those restructuring but you can best bet on how you sell yourself to the prospective employee.
They might just go with you since it's cheaper!
I can tell you that experience people would not start low. They simply can't, but you can.
Use that to your advantage.
The most important thing to remember is to keep trying. Look around you or just look around this blog for ideas, info, and resources to help you with your job search.
Just keep going...
If prospective pharmaceutical companies willing to take up my recommendation and offer about advertising their requirement here, you can easily find everything in one place.
I'm positive some companies will, and I hope you'll find it useful.
Until then, keep looking. Pray for help from above for guidance and be grateful...
So much you have to be thankful for, then that you don't have, and discontent with :)
